About Us

Generations of Fayetteville families have served on this department. Here's where we came from and who leads us today.

Our story

Serving Fayetteville for generations.

On February 15, 1946, the Scanlon-Kelly VFW Post 5920 was formed — the oldest VFW post in Brown County, Ohio. The post bought the first Packard ambulance for the Village of Fayetteville, and the Fayetteville Fire Company took over its maintenance. Every member who could drive it had a key.

The ambulance was kept in a barn behind Crone's Market because the station only had room for two fire engines. A later addition gave the station four more bays, and the department bought a new ambulance and retired the Packard.
